Our
desire is to expand senior ministry so that EVERY senior,
regardless of age, has a place to connect with the Belmont
Community.
We also want to see our seniors connect across every generation,
to mentor and be mentored, to serve and to be served,
to pour into younger lives and be poured into by them.
The
ASFC has been around since September 1990. There have been
several couples in leadership including George and Sallye
Bohanan, Bill and Kay Armstrong, and Larry and Mary Dalton,
our current leaders.
Anyone
age 55 and over is eligible to join this group, but because
many people of this age are still working, the current group
is composed of the 60+ crowd. We meet the third Thursday of
each month for a covered-dish luncheon, at Asaph’s Chamber,
gathering at 11:00 AM and eating together at 11:30.
This
is a close-knit group who pray fervently for the Belmont leadership
and for one another. Intercession is our main “group”
ministry, although several are involved in other activities
on an individual basis, such as prison ministries, tutoring,
etc. Most of us are in cells, and several are either current
or past cell leaders. The ASFC functions like another cell
family for all of us, and is actually a recognized cell group
at Belmont. We also have an efficient network to communicate
prayer needs and general news.
Phil
Bennett (email) is the pastor
of the seniors.
Come
join us! We welcome you to our family, and look forward to
walking with you as we walk with Jesus. |
