CHESTER and NAOMI CARNEY (Okinawa, Japan) – We dream of:

• Beginning an English language pre-school in the neighborhood of our church for our Japanese neighbors who want their children to know English, but who do not yet really know about Jesus.

• Beginning Foundation Of Life seminars in which we will teach young people, both those who are Christians and those who do not yet know the Lord, the basic principles of faith, work, relationships, marriage and family.

• Raising up pastors and leaders in our midst to replace what we do at Belmont Okinawa

• Planting another church

Biography

While Chester Carney was in the navy, he traveled to Japan. After being witnessed to, he received Christ and began ministering in the Okinawa. Though he was born in Canada and grew up in inner city Nashville, Chester had passion to reach the people of Japan. He married Naomi, a Japanese woman who grew up in a Shinto home. They have been married 20 years and have 4 children. The Carneys founded Belmont Okinawa and have ministries to local hospitals, the homeless, and a battered woman’s shelter. Through teaching and ministering to the younger generations, the Carneys are raising up the next generation of Japanese church leaders.
